Shrimp Eating Championship Coming To Doc’s!

On October 16, 2014 at Doc’s Seafood and Steaks, “Island Tom” Hartford set a Guinness World Record for the most shrimps eaten in 3 minutes. And now, we’re getting ready to do it again.

Destination Texas is teaming up with Doc’s Seafood and Steaks to host a Texas “shrimp eating” championship with the goal to set a new Guinness World Record.

Facebook Post about Texas Shrimp Eating Championship

What are the requirements to set the record?

Only one shrimp may be eaten at a time and must be fully swallowed before starting on the next. And you have to use a standard seafood fork must be used (no using your hands) AND one hand must remain behind your back at all times.

When will the Texas Shrimp-Eating Championship take place?

We’re ironing out the details so stay tuned!

How can I enter the competition?

Coastal Flooding!!!

Due to coastal flooding Doc’s had to close its doors from Friday October 23rd through Sunday October 25th. Every day the Doc’s team was hoping the water would recede but, to no avail the water continued to rise daily. Monday October 26th the water receded and our team was able to jump into action and, begin to prepare for dinner service. Thank goodness. There was not any significant damage to the restaurant but, our parking lot received a seaweed facial. All is back to normal under the JFK Causeway and, here at Doc’s Seafood and Steaks. Now that the sun is out and shining I hope all you Doc’s lovers and first timers can all come out to Doc’s to relax, enjoy some fresh seafood, and catch a free sunset!
