Doc’s Seafood and Steaks Wins 28th Annual Taste of the Island People’s Choice Award

The 28th Annual Taste of the Island event was held on October 21st, 2015 at Port Royal Ocean Resort & Conference Center. Twenty-three venues participated offering food samples by some of the best restaurants from Padre Island, Mustang Island, Port Aransas and Flour Bluff areas.

There was also Live Auction and Silent Auction items at the event with the proceeds benefit the Scholarship Program for TAMUCC and Del Mar and the promotion of businesses on Padre Island.

Doc’s Seafood & Steaks won 1st place. Island Time Sushi Bar & Seafood Grill came in 2nd; and Angry Marlin Restaurant & Palapa Bar came in 3rd.

Doc’s Seafood & Steaks served two dishes: Blackened Ahi Tuna and Watermelon Crisp – Blackened Ahi Tuna and fresh Watermelon over Seasonal Greens tossed in a sweet chili vinaigrette and topped with sesame soy and Horseradish Cream drizzle layered on top of a crispy wonton; and Doc’s Homemade Seafood Gumbo – Local Mahi-Mahi, Local Shrimp, Lump blue Crab, and New Orleans Andouille Sausage with fresh Okra and homemade Rue.

The 28th Annual Taste of the Island event is presented by the Padre Island Business Association (PIBA). The PIBA seeks to advance and promote a growing economic environment, to serve as a voice for businesses on the many issues facing the community, and to encourage quality education, while staying true to the distinctive characteristics that makes the community great.

The Padre Island / Corpus Christi area is home to many great restaurants of all varieties. Next time you’re in the area, stop by and sample the great food and get a ‘taste of the island’.

Doc’s Happy Hour menu is finally in!

Our wonderful Doc’s team has been working together to come up with some tasty happy hour munchies, to complement our great libations. The idea behind this menu is to give our customers a chance to escape from the stresses of life and, into the paradise that is Doc’s.

Doc’s Happy Hour offers low-priced libations and extremely tasty munchies 3 pm-7 pm Monday-Friday. Please join us Tuesday November 3rd from 3 pm – 7 pm to send this menu off on its maiden voyage.

1/4 pound of select beer boiled gulf shrimp

1/4 pound of breaded gulf shrimp tossed in a choice of spicy buffalo or sweet chili sauce

Bayou Fries


Seasoned seashore french fries topped with cheese, bacon, crawfish, fresh sweet basil, and cajun seasoning

Doc’s Street Tacos


Three mini blackened or grilled fish tacos, served on white corn tortillas and topped with cabbage, baja avocado sauce, ginger bourbon sauce, and fresh pico de gallo

A huge “Thank You” to everyone who came out to support Island businesses and to all who voted Doc’s 1st Place in the People’s Choice during the 28th Annual Taste of the Island held at Port Royal Ocean Resort on Oct 21st. We served a seared Yellow Fin Tuna on a crispy wanton with a spinach salad tossed in a sweet chili vinaigrette topped with fresh watermelon, honey soy reduction and a wasabi aioli. Keep an eye out for this delicious dish on our Chef’s Blackboard features.
